History
iGYM was co-founded by Curtis Meier and Chelsey Meier - Oberreuter, a brother and sister team, in 2013. The sibling grew up in the fitness industry. Their parents, Wayne and Jackie Meier, opened up their first health club, Midwest Athletic Club - The M.A.C., in 1984 after years of running and managing gyms. The Meier's have over 40 years of experience in the fitness industry. With their knowledge they were able to develop a very customizable gym model that can fit into any market.
Business Model
While developing the iGYM brand, our goal was to have a quick return on investment with very little overhead. Yet still developing a culture that focuses on member experience, state of the art equipment, and competitive pricing. As business owners we also know the importance of a flexible schedule and healthy living.
Industry
As you probably already know from doing your fitness industry research, this industry is growing, and growing fast. Over 80% of millennials currently workout or want to, compared to 60% baby boomers. Generation Z are making up almost 30% of our population and they too care about their overall health and wellness.
